[The dynasts] [graphic] / CR [monogram]. [1914]

Lithographic poster for a dramatic production of Thomas Hardy's play The dynasts: a drama of the Napoleonic Wars in three parts. The central image is of a large seated three-faced male with a scythe in one hand and a small toga-clad figure in the other hand. Along the bottom edge are five or six male figures engaged in battle and a fallen horse.

Ricketts designed this poster for Harley Granville-Barker's adaption of Hardy's play at the Kingsway Theatre in London (25 November 1914 - 7 January 1915). This is one of fifty proofs before lettering which were sold at the theatre; proceeds from the sale went to benefit the Soldier's Cigarette Fund.
